Petha is a popular dish, especially during the colder months. It is made from fresh white pumpkin/ash gourd with sugar and spices (such as cinnamon or nutmeg). In which fibre, iron, calcium, sulfur and vitamins A, B, C, E and protein are present. Petha is enjoyed for its sweet taste and unique texture. It is often served as a dessert or snack and can also be enjoyed alone or with a scoop of custard, cream or vanilla ice cream.

It is made by drying bottled gourd pieces in lime water, and then cooking these pieces in sugar, which enhances its sweet taste while acting as a natural preservative.
