Description

Silao Meetha Khaja is known for its flavour, crispness, and layered appearance, which is attributed to Silao’s local waters and climate. The dessert consists of 12 to 16 very thin sheets of dough stacked on top of each other.

Silav Khaja is India’s favourite sweet. Its watery texture and melt-in-the-mouth sweetness are delicious, enriched with the sweetness and flavour of cardamom sugar syrup which makes it crunchy and crackling with an optional mixture of flour, ghee, sugar, water, cardamom and rose water for fragrance. It is such that you will not be able to stop yourself from eating it.

The food heritages of Bihar are rich and filled with a wide range of delicious sweet and savoury dishes to enjoy. Silao Khaja is native to the Nalanda district of Bihar and is one of the integral dishes of the state.

It is a staple in many celebrations and is specially made during Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath Puja.
